For those of you who have been to Mexico, you have probably noticed that every bathroom stall is equipped with a waste basket. This is not for throwing away your trash after you're done eating a taco while taking a dump, they are for throwing away your used toilet paper. This is due to Mexico's poor sewage sytem (the paper clogs up the works with obviously terrible results). This is a cultural norm and poop disposal necessity there. However, as Americans, this is obviously a strange practice that we never do. This is the same situation we have with the toilets here at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
Let me be the first to say that the port-a-johns here are nice. They have flushing, porcelain toilets and urinals and have tile floors. Butttt and that's a big but, I did not notice until today and after my XO told me about how he threw up as he walked into a bathroom overflowing with shit water yesterday, that there is a prominently displayed sign telling you what you can put in the toilets besides shit and pee. Which is nothing. Sooo, I am here to tell you that I, Aaron, threw my toilet paper in the trash today.
Just doing my part for all the soldiers out here in Kuwait. You're Welcome.
PS. America, please don't take the ability to throw anything you want into your toilets with impunity for granted.
