Every day, Billions of dollars of raw materials and finished goods are shipped around the world fueling the global economy. This international trade ensures that we have gas in our cars, Iphones in our pockets, and that Chinese people everywhere are taking advantage of our huge trade deficit. There is one thing that doesnt make you more money when you ship it overseas. Money. When you ship hard cash, you just want to have the cash somewhere else. Americans like to have good ol green backs wherever we go, and it's kinda a necessity on US military bases. Not a lot of profit to be made in it. Interestingly enough, the more something weighs, the more it costs to put on a boat and send it over here to us. Coins weight a lot more than paper money and their value is considerably less. Soo, AAFES (the Army Airforce Exchange Service) came up with a brilliant solution. Pogs. These pogs are technically gift certificates with 25, 10, or 5 cent denominations on them. Theye also sport some sort of scene from military life on one side. They are redeemable on any military base world wide and don't weigh your pocket down like all that loose change you civilians have to suffer with.
Just another perk of the job. Lighter pockets.
