VoiceCon and Financial Advice

You can tell the seriousness of a situation by the tone in someones voice. It's about time someone categorize it. In the Army, we have redcon stati. Essentially a "ready to conduct" status, REDCON1 means that you are ready to conduct your mission now, REDCON2 means you are ready to conduct mission in 15 minutes, etc. Dan and I have come up with a "voice status/level" system. It's called Voicecon. VOICECON1: Normal conversational speaking voice. This is what you might have during a non political conversation over coffee or something. VOICECON2: Slightly panicked, just made contact with the enemy, excitement. First time a teenager saw boobs kinda reaction. VOICECON3: The excitedly telling someone what happened after an extreme situation. Kinda how you'd talk to your buddies about how your team just won the Superbowl. VOICECON4: This is by far the most important Voicecon level. Its the grizzled veteran voice. The "My name is Makonen Campbell and Ive saved lives under fire on multiple occasions" tone. This is John Mcclain in Live Free or Die Hard. The "Don't worry, even though I am a local, city cop, Ive taken down multinational terrorists on 3 entirely separate occasions before this one." Nuff Said. Ok. Now the controversy that is at the forefront of every military man or woman's mind. Not getting paid. I can't really believe it has come to this, but our first paycheck this month will be half of what we should be getting, and if Congress doesn't get its act together before the end of the month, this will be our only paycheck for April. I'm not really worried, however. I would consider myself a reasonably responsible person when it comes to money. So here is my financial advice for those folks who aren't so good at keeping their bank accounts in the black. 1. Don't let your woman spend your entire paycheck every month. 2. Put a little in savings. You should have at least 3 months pay in case of a rainy day (like not getting paid due to a government shutdown). 3. If you're single, deployed and don't have any money despite having zero expenses, you're dumb. 4. Seriously do not buy a PS3 on credit through Best Buy for 15% interest. Learn from me. Learn....
